Learn more about the genesis of the new book – a journey that has also shown us, the CUBORO team, the diversity of CUBORO once again.

The journey starts with a dream

In the summer of 2022, Sebastian, our CEO, approached the CUBORO team and told us about his dream: to design a comprehensive CUBORO book that would present all the possibilities of the marble run system for the first time. Being the son of Matthias, the inventor of CUBORO, Sebastian was familiar with the variety of CUBORO from childhood on. Since Sebastian took over the business from Matthias in spring 2020, he cherished the desire to portray all these possibilities in a book. His enthusiasm for this project was clearly noticeable! Although we were initially hesitant in the team about whether an additional medium was necessary for CUBORO, the book project convinced us after only a few creative days. A new CUBORO book was indispensable! As soon as the project started, the ideas just bubbled out of us as what kind of play possibilities we could present in the book. The variety of learning and playing variations with the more than 100 elements of CUBORO are sheer endless!

Discoveries between the book covers

Now the book is printed in front of us, already translated into several languages (English, French and Japanese, the Korean version will follow soon). We at the CUBORO team are thrilled to hold the result of the intensive design process in our hands and to browse through it. There is so much to discover!

Did you know that CUBORO is already used in many schools? For example, in geometry lessons at elementary school or in aptitude tests at universities. The wooden cubes are also used in old people's homes and nursing homes to promote sensory skills and fine motor hand use in occupational therapy. The natural CUBORO elements catch the attention of young children and stimulate their sense of touch. The book shows you how children as young as two can experiment with the wooden elements - free from instructions, following only their own curiosity and creativity.

Exciting building plans, tricky quizzes and useful tips

The older the children get, the more demanding the challenges can be. The book offers youngsters exciting construction plans, tricky quizzes and new ideas for competitions. Even adults work up a sweat with the trickier tasks. As a team, we tested all the building plans and quizzes in detail and challenged each other to see who could solve a quiz faster or design an even more exciting Building plan for the book. Deciding which building plans and quizzes to include in the book was not easy. This book now contains over 35 building plans, more than 15 quizzes and simple instructions for the competition for all CUBORO sets.

We in the team also got to know CUBORO from a new perspective: the systematic description of all 100+ elements showed us the variety, abundance and inexhaustible play possibilities. If you have always wanted to know how best to use the elements in your marble runs, the book will certainly give you new ideas! We were also keen to summarize tips and tricks for playing with CUBORO in simple words and pictures. In the book you will now find 12 useful tips for building even more sophisticated marble runs! And as a team, we have also learned a lot about how to construct even more ingenious tracks.

CUBORO is much more than just a marble run. The game accompanies us throughout our lives and fascinates us at every age. CUBORO was developed to encourage and challenge children, young people and adults according to their individual abilities.
